Seattle is on the stolen lands of the Coast Salish (ancestral lands of the Duwamish, Suquamish, Stillaguamish, and Muckleshoot People). The Coast Salish people have occupied and cared for this land since time immemorial. As we come to this space, remind ourselves how we can individually remedy this injustice through our actions and beliefs and encourage Land Back initiatives.

Transportation Options:

Airport:

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA)Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is just 15 miles away.

Westlake Station:

From our hotel, walk two blocks southwest to the Westlake Station, where you can board the Link Light Rail and ride it to the airport.

 

Getting around:

  • Light rail: The Sound Transit light rail connects Sea-Tac International Airport to downtown Seattle, Capitol Hill, and other neighborhoods. This is a stress-free option for airport transfers.

  • Taxis and ride-sharing: These services are readily available downtown, but be mindful of traffic during peak times.

  • Walking: Many of the city's key attractions are within walking distance of the convention center

Weather in Seattle:

In January, the weather in Seattle, Washington is typically cold, dark, and very wet, with frequent rain showers and minimal daylight. While significant snowfall is uncommon, rain or mixed precipitation is frequent throughout the month. 

Temperature

Average daily temperatures are in the 30s and 40s (Fahrenheit), rarely dropping below the high 20s.

Cashless Payments: 

Be aware that most businesses, including parking kiosks, require credit or contactless payments; some retailers may accept cash.

Nearby Attractions:

  • Pike Place Market: An iconic landmark, this market features fish markets, local shops, and restaurants. It is a must-visit destination for any first-time visitor.

  • Space Needle and Seattle Center: The Space Needle, Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP), and Chihuly Garden and Glass are all located at the Seattle Center.

  • Waterfront: Walk along the newly redeveloped waterfront near Pier 62 and check out the Seattle Aquarium.
